Collection: cyanotype originals

Original cyanotypes coming soon!

Cyanotype is a historic photographic process that uses iron salts and sunlight to create vivid blue prints.

My cyanotypes are a contemporary take on this traditional process. I use prairie photos or botanicals, layer them with treated paper, raw pigments, water, organic toners and expose them to the prairie sun.

Because each cyanotype reacts differently to sunlight, every print is “perfectly imperfect”, with natural variations in texture or soft areas of blur.

To celebrate these natural variations, each print is hand-finished with a touch of 18 carat gold leaf, inspired by Kintsugi—the Japanese art of mending with gold to honor imperfection.
